Filus Wines is probably the paradigm of a successful start-up in the Argentine wine industry. It was founded in Mendoza, Argentina in 1997 by Gustavo Capone and Ambrosio di Leo, both with vas experience and expertise in the international wine business and management fields. Their goal was to export New World Class high quality wines.

Operations began through a commercial agreement with Vinas de Medrano Cooperativa Ltda., whereby Filus Wines performed all exports of the cooperative’s highest quality wines. The first shipment left to the UK in January, 1998. This first adventure set the basis for a greater challenge: to open international markets and offer a high quality varietals wines at the most competitive international prices.

These efforts led to an ever growing number of customers, first for bulk wine and increasingly for Filus Wines’s labeled bottle products. Today, the company sells its wines to 17 countries, spread all over Europe, America and Asia. It is also the third largest exporter of bulk wine in Argentina. As part of its evolution in the value chain, during 2001 the company acquired a 50% interest at Filus Wines, a firm that owns a medium-size boutique winery in Lunlunta, Maipu Valley, and it became the FIlus Wines.

Contrary to other Argentine wineries, Filus Wines was conceived as a New World wine exporter from the beginning and its products are made to meet new generation drinker preferences. Both the wine and packaging designing processes relay on targeting young people, professionals, with middle to high income, Australian and Californian wine drinkers, who are willing to taste new wines from exotic origins.

LA BOCA
Torrontes-Chardonnay
  • Winemaker’s Notes:
Special blend between indigenous and "international-traditional" varieties. Sweet and crisp, with lovely floral, with jasmine, lavender and rose notes, that herald a rich core of apple, lemon and white pepper, nicely balanced with a thread of citrus acidity and a long sparkling finish.

LA BOCA
Merlot
  • Winemaker’s Notes:
Well-balanced, with ripe plums, blackberry, raspberry and cedar hazelnut flavors turning smooth and supple, picking a trace of mocha and coffee on the finish.

LA BOCA
Syrah
  • Winemaker’s Notes:
Intense purple color; aromas of black plums, spices and vanilla. Good acidity, dry, spicy on the nose yet fruity. Good tannins obtained via 3 months ageing in American oak. Best served at 16-18 degrees Celsius with red meat, big game and hard cheese.

LA BOCA
Malbec
  • Winemaker’s Notes:
The "terroir" character, well balanced canopies and low yields in Filus Wines, make in this wine a intense red colour with violet shades, a lovely Malbec style, with ripe red and black fruit and supple tannins. Full-bodied, spice this delivers a fresh, crisp, attractive finish packed with, plums, mocha and vanilla.

LA BOCA
Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Winemaker’s Notes:
A pleasing, well-executed mix of ripe, complex blackberry, plum and currant scented fruit, with cedar and anise notes. Well-structured, it finishes with firm tannins that are ripe and well-balanced.

LAZOS
Malbec-Syrah
  • Winemaker’s Notes:
The foothills of the Andes soils and Mendoza’s high altitude and desert climate make for the intense fruity and spicy character in this wine. Dense, rich and generous, with red plum, blackberry, raspberry, anise and mocha flavors. Tannins beautifully submerged. It gains depth on the finish where the flavors run deep and long..
